To my Beautiful Wife

That’s right now it’s my turn. I decided since I’m such an integral part of Brittany becoming a Doctor I would write a post. I said it, Integral! You see if it were not for me, who would make Brit’s food, make Brit’s Coffee, and walk Brit’s dog? And the answer is of course Brittany. She could do all this and more on her own because she’s amazing. I know in previous posts she has made me out to be some sort of savior but that is not the truth. As I’m sure some of you already knew (Meredith Agree Here). I wanted to set the record straight. I am here on this beautiful tropical island, which seems to be getting smaller and smaller because I admire what my wife is doing. She is pursuing her life long dream and I am honored to be along for the ride. I have started to like the sound of Mr. and Dr. Stam. I’m not sure if that’s how it will go. Maybe I will just shorten it to Dr. Stam’s. Yes, I am bestowing Dr. on both of us because we, mostly I, deserve it. I hope everyone is doing great. We both miss you very much but not enough to go see you in April. As Brit mentioned in her last post we are going to NYC. And I am going to a Mets game and sitting right behind Paul (The Catcher). Please stay tuned for future Blog posts from me.

Until then good day and God Bless.

Halfway Done with Block I: Semester 2

Well it's another beautiful 79 degree day here on St. Maarten. It honestly blows my mind to think that most of the rest of the world is freezing right now. Meanwhile, Ryan and I just got back from the beach and are sunburned! I've been trying to do half-days on the weekend in which I study half the day and we hang out together the rest of the day. I love it! And it hasn't affected my grades either..first cell bio exam, 90, and first immunology exam, 87.5. I've found a new way to study (using flashcards that I create online) and so far it's working for me.

Now for the exciting news that's been keeping us up at night: Ryan and I are "swapping" houses for a week in April with a guy that lives in Manhattan! We were trying to get out there during my April break for our 1 year anniversary, but weren't sure if we could afford it. So one day Ryan was searching on Craig's list and found a house swap site. To make a long story short, we posted an add (check it out on www.craigslist.com under New York then House Swap)and received an email back from a guy that wants to swap for the exact week that we want to go. His place is awesome..perfect location and FREE! He is bringing his mother out here to celebrate his birthday. Ryan spoke with him for an hour the other day on the phone, and he seems to be a normal, non-creep guy! He's never done this before either, and has already booked his flight here! Now that we don't have to pay for a place to stay, we are going to be able to do all the fun stuff that New York has to offer. Ryan has already planned 1 night at the Mets vs Rockies game, and another night we are going to see a Broadway musical. I've never been to New York so I'm thrilled to finally see the City and visit where Ryan grew up. Beware that most of my posts this semester will revolve around what new New York plans we have made!

This One's For Leigh

I am writing this post strictly because my friend Leigh wrote me an email today that stated at the end: ps, I check your blog religiously. That being said it made me feel like a bad blogger..so here I am writing a post even though my arm really hurts (for some unknown reason) for all my "steady" blog readers!

This week already feels like it'll never end. Immunology is going really fast with lots and lots of abbreviations. I first have to decode the info before I can even learn it. Very tiresome. Today was filled with "firsts". It was my first day as an anatomy TA! I got to walk around, meet the new 1st semesters, and try to help them with any of their questions. It was fun..and a great refresher. Then I had my first business meeting with the executive staff of AMSA (I'm the recruitment coordinator now). Busy busy day that still isn't over.

Ry and I have been getting up before class/work to run. We found out it comes out to almost 1.5 miles! But it really is more of a walk/run then a full run since I can't seem to run that well on the beach! Regardless we are happy to finally work off some of that "jiggle" we acquired over Christmas!

The last post I wrote I mentioned that Meredith was going into labor. Well about 1 hour later she deliver 7lbs 7oz baby Reagan! We haven't seen many pictures, but what we know of her is that she is healthy and has a full head of hair! We are so excited for Andy and Meredith.

Well I think its time to get back to studying. Hope you enjoyed this one Leigh! It was all for you! Sorry we missed each other over break.

Semester #2

One of my New Year's resolutions: write more blog entries! Starting today I am going to dedicate time to writing these so one day when I am old and finally out of school I can look back at everything I went through! Well, today was the start of Semester #2! I can't believe how fast it has come up! We had a great Christmas and New Year's in Arizona with our family and friends. We were able to go to Pinetop with Ryan's parents and see some snow! Definetly nice to enjoy a little cold weather. Then we went to Tucson for 1 night and saw my hospice patient, Phyllis. It worked out nicely because the day we went to see her was the same day we picked up our wedding photo album! It was nice to show her the pictures since she wasn't able to make the wedding.

Christmas Eve was spent between my mom and Ryan's parents. We did church, 2 dinners, and presents at both. I was finally able to meet Tyler, Heather and Jason's son. So cute! And right now while I'm writing Meredith is having her baby, Reagan! We are sad we are missing yet another birth, but are so excited for everyone!

Today went well..new teachers, 4 new classes. I am now taking Physiology I, Genetics, Immunology and Cell Biology. Tonight was the Orientation Mixer where we met some of the new 1st semesters...feels like I should still be one of them! I think this semester is going to be a good one. Especially since I know my routine already and what to do and not do.

Well its off to bed here at 9:30 to enjoy the few nights I get 8 hours of sleep. We love you all. Please pray for a safe and healthy delivery for Meredith. Congrats guys!
